Memoir Writing - Writing The Story Only You Can Tell (ages 18+)

Instructor: Nina Hamberg

Have  you longed to write your story? Memoirists are often part archivist and  part detective, using the raw material of their lives to arrive at a  personal truth. Through in-class lectures and writing exercises, you’ll  learn many of the techniques used by novelists and creative nonfiction  writers alike, including how to write compelling scenes, create  effective dialogue, and compress or speed up time. With class size  limited to eight, we’ll have plenty of time to discuss how to expand  your recall and deal with the sensitivities of people who appear in your  story. The workshop is designed for new memoir writers, but all levels  are welcome, including writers who have taken this class previously. By  the end of the session, you’ll have completed at least one essay. For  more information, please contact the instructor at nhamberg@comcast.net prior to enrolling.
